Worried about exams? Many UK degrees barely have any.
A large share of UK courses grade you on assignments, projects and presentations. For students who freeze in exam halls, that changes everything.
- Coursework assessment
- MOI accepted at some universities
- Practical, project-based learning
How UK courses assess you
Unlike the end-of-year exam system many of us grew up with in Kerala, UK universities often spread assessment across the course. Depending on the programme, your grade may come mostly or entirely from:
- Written assignments and essays
- Group and individual projects
- Presentations and portfolios
- A final dissertation (for master’s degrees)
“No exams” also means no entrance test
Most UK universities admit international students on their academic record, statement of purpose and English evidence, without a separate entrance exam such as the GRE or GMAT. That makes the application process quicker and less stressful.
Frequently asked questions
Is a coursework-only degree respected by employers?
Yes. The degree is the same award whatever the assessment method. Employers see the qualification and university, not how each module was graded.
Will the UK visa still need an English test?
For degree-level study, the university can assess your English itself. Where it accepts MOI, a separate IELTS may not be needed for the visa. We confirm this for each offer.
Which subjects are mostly coursework?
Business, management, marketing, media, computing and many social sciences tend to lean on coursework. We shortlist courses that suit you.
