FAQ

Visit visas: your questions answered.

How long can I stay on a UK visit visa?

You can usually stay for up to 6 months on each visit. If you visit often, you can apply for a long-term visit visa valid for 2, 5 or 10 years, with each stay still limited to 6 months.

How long does a UK visit visa take?

When you apply from outside the UK, you will usually get a decision within about three weeks of your biometrics appointment. We recommend applying well before your travel date.

Do I need an invitation letter?

It is not always required, but a clear invitation letter from your family member, with their details and your plans, often makes an application stronger. We help you and your family prepare one.

Can my children abroad sponsor my trip?

Yes. Your family member can support your trip financially, as long as the application shows their funds and their relationship to you clearly. We help you prepare their documents too.

Why are visit visas refused?

Common reasons are an unclear purpose of travel, missing financial evidence or weak proof of your ties to India. A careful checklist and document review helps avoid these problems.

Can I work on a visit visa?

No. Visit visas are for tourism, visiting family, attending events and similar activities. They do not allow you to work.

Can parents visit Canada for longer than six months?

Yes. Parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents can apply for a Super Visa, which allows stays of up to 5 years per entry and can be valid for up to 10 years.

Can you help elderly parents travelling for the first time?

Yes. We guide first-time travellers patiently through the forms, the appointment and what to expect at the airport.
